Printhouse Gallery presents; "Protect and Survive" by Juliet Sugg

A retrospective of Juliet Sugg’s celebrated installation Protect & Survive will be exhibited at the Printhouse Gallery, Dalston from 29th Jan through to 6th March.

Post it’s second run, this will be a chance to see the show up close and personal through some of the key, original illustrations/sculptures as well as photography and film from Protect & Survive’s previous runs. There will also be a reprise of part of the performances on the opening night (Thursday 29th Jan 7.30 –10.30pm).

Uniquely combing illustration and performance in a surviving WW2 bunker in Dalston, Sugg attempts to push the boundaries of narrative art, producing a ‘live, 3 dimensional comic’ which asks the viewer to ‘step inside its story and immerse yourself’ into her strange and hallucinatory world.

Limited editions of the Protect & Survive comic and prints will be on sale at the gallery throughout the exhibition.

Gallery Opening hours 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

Exhibition ends 6th March 2015 and is free entry.

Bootstrap FUNdraising Run

The very first Bootstrap Company Fun Run is taking place on Saturday 28th March, 2015 in East London's most beautiful green space - Victoria Park.

Lets all get fit, have fun, and raise funds! A wonderful chance for everyone in the extended Bootstrap community to get together and celebrate health, happiness and wellbeing! Whether you're a tenant, a Bootstrap Campus resident, a Dalston Roof Park lover, a supporter of Bootstrap, or just a fitness fanatic with who loves any excuse to run 10k - this run is for you!

We aim to raise £10,000, and need your running help to do it!

CAUSE: Bootstrap Company provides Enterprise support in lots of ways; through subsidised rent, free training and networking events, providing space for cultural exchange and community initiatives, and through our innovative education programme Bootstrap Campus

Bootstrap Campus links 16-24 year olds from Hackney into the thriving community of professionals working in our Bootstrap buildings. Through work placements, short and long workshop courses, and mentoring, young people are empowered through improved professional skills, and more importantly, confidence. Our new project The Enterprise Hub launches at the end of January. The project will support 12 young entrepreneurs through a six week Bootcamp, equipping them with the skills need to start their own Enterprise, and much more.

None of this would be possible without FUNDS. As a social Enterprise Bootstrap has several innovative income streams, but to continue growing the work of Bootstrap Campus, and Bootstraps other projects we need your support!

Running the Bootstrap fun run is a win win. You have a reason to get fit (or continue your already existing fitness!) and raise some funds that are going straight back into a local charity, and your local community.

There will be a registration fee of £10.
This guarantees you a place in the race, a goodie bag, and covers the cost of organising the run.

*Recommended fund-raising target of £50 minimum per runner! *

Bootstrap will set up a communal giving page for you lovely runners to share with your friends and families. Details of this page will be added ASAP.

THANK YOU! See you in the park…

The Merci Marie Cafe is open!

Merci Marie is a new cafe delivering many old favourites with a delicatessen's twist. The cafe is the brainchild of Marie Gonfond who hails from Provence, France.

She truly undertands the importance of an exciting meal during a working day. Her distinct flavours are a welcome addition to Dalston's food circuit.

The cafe is located on the roof and is open from 12-3 Monday to Friday for the summer.

On Friday nights the cafe is transformed in to "Sweet Friday" a pop up dining club for people who are serious about supper!

This event was the culmination of a pioneering event management course run by Bootstrap Campus in partnership with HCVS & Talent Match London and led by Lyrix Organix. 8 weeks, 3 teams, 1 event.
